Strengthening the European Pillar of Social Rights for health and wellbeing

The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) sets out 20 principles to promote fair and well-functioning labour markets and social protection systems. A stronger social Europe supports better health and wellbeing for all. The EPSR Action Plan, first introduced in 2021, translates these principles into concrete policy measures and sets clear targets for 2030, including raising employment to 78%, ensuring at least 60% of adults participate in training each year, and reducing the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion by 15 million, including 5 million children.

While progress has been made on employment, challenges remain in reducing poverty and social exclusion. Closing these gaps requires stronger action on healthcare, quality jobs, training opportunities, and adequate funding to protect social cohesion and ensure that Europe delivers for everyone, not just some.
