Norway’s physical activity health calculator

The Norwegian Directorate of Health has updated its Physical Activity Health Calculator, which estimates healthcare cost savings and reductions in disease burden from increased physical activity. The tool demonstrates that even modest daily activity improvements can yield substantial savings and add healthy life years (DALYs) across the population.

The calculator uses the latest research to quantify potential benefits for individuals and society, including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, improved metabolic health, better mental wellbeing, and enhanced musculoskeletal and cognitive function. It provides estimates of cost savings for the state, municipalities, and individuals, supporting policymakers and local authorities in planning and evaluating physical activity interventions.
