Health and environment monitoring in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic’s Health and Environment Monitoring System, operating since 1994, publishes annual reports tracking population exposure to environmental health risks. The monitoring covers toxic substances in air, drinking water from public supplies and private wells, the full food basket, and workplace environments. It also includes unique human biomonitoring data, assessing levels of toxic chemicals in the general population.

In addition, the system provides information on cardiovascular and metabolic health, the prevalence of allergies and childhood obesity, and the health impacts of transport-related noise exposure. The published overview reports summarise national trends, while specialised reports address each monitoring area in detail.
