Global trends in tobacco use and youth vaping
A recent WHO report finds that one in five adults worldwide remains addicted to tobacco, despite a significant global decline in use. It highlights that children aged 13–15 are on average nine times more likely than adults to use e-cigarettes. The report presents trends in tobacco use among those aged 15 and older from 2000 to 2024, with projections to 2030, and includes regional and country-level estimates. It also provides data on youth vaping from national school surveys. These findings are used to monitor progress on the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, Sustainable Development Goals, and the Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases.
