EU and SDGs: How has the EU performed?

Eurostat released the publication ‘Sustainable development in the European Union – monitoring report on progress towards the SDGs in an EU context – 2024 edition’. This publication provides readers with a statistical overview of the EU’s progress towards its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Eurostat monitoring report shows that, based on the assessment of the past five years of available data, the EU made progress towards most of the SDGs, while it fell slightly behind in a few goals. There was progress in reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and poverty (SDG 1) as well as decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). The goal on health and wellbeing (SDG 3) was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
