Youth clinics support young people’s mental health

Youth clinics promote and support mental health in a unique way of working which complements the efforts of other services, such as primary care, child and adolescent psychiatry and student health. Youth clinics work through health-promotion and prevention, and offer, for example, counselling with counsellors or psychologists.

This report from the Public Health Agency of Sweden, produced in collaboration with Umeå University, examines how youth clinics in Sweden work with young people’s mental health. The survey shows that the clinics are focused on promoting and supporting young people’s mental health based on young people’s own needs. They also strive to keep the threshold for contact low.
