Urban Data Centres

In the Netherlands, the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) have worked with local and regional authorities to set up Urban Data Centres. The centres help municipalities combine CBS’ data, and data infrastructure, processing and privacy protection with local policy issues by committing (new) data sources towards finding policy solutions and laying bare the local implications of societal developments. It helps authorities improve their understanding of the developments within their municipalities.

Data centres have emerged in cities, rural municipalities and provinces. While the data collected and worked with in the data centres is not specifically focused on health inequalities, it covers health and many of the determinants of health on the local and regional level.

Information on the data centres is available in Dutch as well as English. Click here to learn more.
