The social and employment situation of Roma communities in Slovakia

The European Parliament Policy Department for Economic, Scientific and Quality of Life Policies have published the “Fighting poverty and social exclusion” study in October 2021.

This paper presents

  1. key indicators on employment and poverty for Roma communities in Slovakia and reviews existing social and employment policies,
  2. discusses the situation of Roma children in education,
  3. presents achievements and lessons learned from the use of EU funds for marginalised communities,
  4. reviews the work of other organisations in assessing the situation of Roma people in Slovakia.

The paper is an update of a previous note from 2020.
