Societal developments may increase work-related stress in the future

The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) expect a rise in work-related stress over the next two decades due to factors like an ageing workforce, increased informal care responsibilities, and hybrid working arrangements. They emphasise the need for comprehensive policies to mitigate these stressors, considering the interconnectedness of various societal developments, such as labour market shifts and technological advancements. This foresight study underscores the importance of collaboration across sectors to address the complex interplay of factors influencing workplace wellbeing.
