Model project offering support for families with small children in disadvantaged neighbourhood by family midwife, social worker and parent´s café. Schutzengel is a project offering health and social support to families in difficulty in the deprived area of Neustadt in Flensburg, a city in the northern part of Germany. The area has a high proportion of young and single parent families living off of state support who face difficulties with debt, alcohol or drug addiction and social exclusion. For these persons, there is no tailored help (from existing social institutions) when a new baby is born and young children are at risk of developing disorders as well as facing neglect and abuse.
