National Plan for Creation of Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities, Czech Republic

The National plan is the fourth policy of its type since 1992, and its principles are based upon the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as approved by the United Nations. The policy is implementing the most important, relevant an achievable principles in the Czech Republic. For each separate principle the responsible ministry, measures and deadlines are appointed. The principles include: equality and antidiscrimination; women with disabilities; public education; barrier free buildings; transport; equality in law; independent living; personal mobility; family life; training and education; health and health care; rehabilitation; employment; social security and protection; participation in public affairs; and statistics. The policy is cross governmental in nature, with all ministries involved at different levels according to their areas of responsibility and interest. Funding and monitoring is a part of implementation at both a national and regional level.
