Healthy Neighborhoods Connect

The Austrian Health Promotion Fund (Fonds Gesundes Österreich; FGÖ), in cooperation with other organisations, has launched a program to counter loneliness and insecurity among those who are most vulnerable in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Older people, people with chronic diseases, people who are socially-isolated and socially-disadvantaged people face particular challenges right now. Under the program, Austrian health and social organisations and volunteer organisations can receive funding for projects that, in a local context, aim to promote the psychosocial health and strengthen resources of these more vulnerable groups. The FGÖ and partner organisations not only provide funding for the projects but also implementation support like lists of selected health literacy resources, manuals for telephone support, and exchange and training opportunities.
