Health in the employment efforts, Denmark

This reportfocuses on job centres’ opportunities to include health activities as one initiative among several in the active employment effort. Working with health promotion in the job centre is well connected with the fact that the municipalities now have the task of ensuring employment efforts, prevention and health efforts as well as the social efforts for the municipality’s citizens. When working with health elements in the employment effort, there is an opportunity to create a holistic effort with human, health, social and economic benefits – for the citizens and the municipality.

This report provides examples of how job centers can practically integrate health services into the active employment effort. The material is based on experiences gathered at the “Inspiration and knowledge day” held in September 2009 by the National Association of Local Authorities and the National Board of Health, as well as subsequent interviews with a number of participating municipalities.
