Happy Planet Index (HPI) report (6th edition)
The Happy Planet Index (HPI) is a measure of sustainable wellbeing, evaluating countries by how efficiently they deliver long, happy lives for their residents using our limited environmental resources.
The sixth edition of the HPI combines data on emissions, life expectancy, and self-reported wellbeing across income groups, to show that long, healthy, happy lives are possible without costing the earth. The results are clear: the top 10% of earners globally are responsible for nearly half of all emissions. However, their wellbeing and health don’t reflect this consumption.
