European Social Survey: Round 9 Multilevel Data published

The European Social Survey (ESS) Multilevel Data resource Round 9 (2018/19) includes externally collected data published in 2021.

This includes contextual data on

  • crime
  • demography
  • the economy
  • education
  • health
  • immigration and
  • political institutions

It is designed to facilitate the task of adding external contextual data on countries and regions to ESS data. The data is available at regional level – ESS regions are created by combining data from different NUTS-levels.

This information has been collated by a number of organisations including EurostatOECD, the United NationsUNESCOWorld Bank and the World Health Organization. Further data is supplied by Bertelsmann Stiftung, the CIRI Human Rights ProjectDatabase of Political Institutions (World Bank), Democracy BarometerFreedom HouseComparative Political Data Set and Transparency International.
