ADAPT Project

ADAPT project – Assistive Devices for empowering disAbled People through robotic Technologies – is part of the Interreg VA France (Channel) England Programme, cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and will run from the start of 2017 to the end of 2020.

It has three main aims:

1. To develop technological innovations for the welfare, quality of life, wellbeing, home care and independent living of people with severe disabilities
2. To train healthcare professionals in the use of Assistive Technology solutions
3. To map the stakeholders and set up events to promote the results of the project and ensure the sustainability of the technology developed

The expected results are:

1. 2 AT: EPW driving simulator + smart EPW. Strategy based on a global innovation framework from TRL 4 to 8 including standardization, developments with short time to market deliveries and researches.
2. Training programmes developed, delivered and evaluated for healthcare prof. in the field of AT.
3. 4 formalized agreements between labs and companies built through 20 events ranging from local to international meetings aiming at creating synergies and boosting R&D in the field of AT.

There are 18 partners in France and England; the UK ones include the Health and Europe Centre, the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Academic Health and Science Network, (KSS AHSN), University College London, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust and Cornwall Mobility.
